Singhik is a little-known village in North Sikkim tucked on a mountain slope at 5250 feet with fascinating views of the mighty Mt. Kanchenjungha. Just 3.5 kms from the district capital Mangan, Singhik is ideal as an overnight stopover after your hectic North Sikkim Tour. All those who want to skip the din of Gangtok after spending a few tranquil days in the higher altitudes of Lachen and Lachung can choose Singhik to rest their tired bodies on the last leg of their journey. From Singhik, guests can return to NJP or Bagdogra skipping Gangtok.

Attractions of Singhik, North Sikkim

From Singhik, you can witness the changing colours of Sikkim’s guardian deity – Mt. Kanchenjungha from red to golden and finally to white during sunrise. Singhik is also near to some of the best attractions of North Sikkim like the village of Kabi Lungchok, where the state of Sikkim was formed through a Blood Brotherhood Treaty between the Lepchas and Bhutias nearly 600 years ago. Some of the grandest monasteries of Sikkim like Phodong Monastery and Tingchim Monastery are also located within 30 kms of Singhik.

While returning from Singhik to Gangtok, you can stop at the beautiful Seven Sisters Waterfalls. Another very interesting destination located nearby is Dzongu, which is a Lepcha Protected area. The Lepchas are the original inhabitants of Sikkim and Dzongu seems to be a village straight from the pages of Lepcha history. Here, you can still see the traditional lives of the Lepchas and witness their culture and traditions. The village of Tingvong in Dzongu also has a great view of Mt. Pandim.
